Like a big American Italian family in Torino

It was like being in a big family, this was the impression of most of those attending the third edition of the Thanks Dinner. Like this the spirti of Thanksgiving enters the heart of the Torinese.

Thanksdinner was in good taste with exquisite cena prepared by Chef’s with a MIchelin Star, Ugo Alciati (Guido Ristorante, Pollenzo) and Marc Lanteri (Ristorante il Baluardo, Mondovì) with music from the combo from Jazz Club di Torino eand the saxophone of Fulvio Albano, kept swinging with wine from Cantine Mascarello.

Thanks Dinner has been held every year at Eataly to give thanks for the abundance and share this with the less fortunate, and we were all moved by the documentary of Capanna di Betlemme of Farigliano, Comunità of Luca Fortunato, who with his brothers and sisters give hope and a new life to those in need.

Thanks Dinner features the Cornucopia Award, that the Board of Advisors of ThanksDinner, Marco Durante, Fabrizio Giugiaro, Daniel and Virginia McVicar, Daniela and Alberto De Agostini, Marco Boglione and Stella Lin Hung, decided to present to Maestro Ugo Nespolo, the new president of Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino.

Thanks Dinner is a benefit, and the lotteria was rich with awards from many sponsors including: K-WAY, Gioielleria Girardi, Nymphenburg e Antiquite et BonTon. Pfatisch, BustersCoffee.

Thanks Dinner was this and more. We hope that next year it is possible to bring the same atmosphere to further connect this grande family.

ThanksDinner 2011 Announced

Thanks Dinner 2011 - Daniel McVicar e Virginia DeAgostini
We left you a year ago with our hearts full of joy at the end of the Thanks Dinner, che per il secondo anno consecutivo si era tenuto ad Eataly. Today the founders Daniel McVicar e Virginia De Agostini are thrilled to announce that reservations are now open for the Thanksgiving Day Benefit.

The Day is November 24th, the fourth Thursday of the month, like the tradition, to celebrate families, and like the Pilgrims started it 400 years ago to celebrate the survival of a difficult year and a successful harvest.

Thanksgiving is also synonymos with the sharing and affection for others and this year the proceeds of the evening will go to the Capanna di Betlemme di Farigliano, who provide meals and housing for the less fortunate, and help to rebuild lives. The community run by  Luca Fortunato is a part of the Associazione Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII that helps the poor and unfortunate.

This phrase of Don Oreste Benzi, more than any other may represent what was the evening of Thanks Dinner 2010. Help so real, so concrete. Sweet Classical

The magic atmosphere of the ThanksDinner 2009 was no doubt due to a dinner “in the family” with classical music.

For the 2010 edition, we open with Professional Concert Ensemble, a group of talented Piedmont musicians that move elegantly in the great Variety of musical genres that have in their repertoire, with expertise ranging from Baroque to Romanticism. They play recent twentieth century music, and then go back a few centuries to discover the sounds and atmosphere of traditional music from Northern Europe to the Celtic flavor, such as Ireland, Scotland, England, and much more.

The Professional Concert Ensemble includes flute, violin, viola, cello, classical or Celtic harp, piano and organ. The staff, however, varies depending on your needs, providing for a solo exhibition, a duo, a trio or a quartet.

Professional Concert Ensemble will give the right flavor to your world, your most important moments. Fail to generate the most beautiful feeling right atmosphere to accompany you in your day more meaningful, creating music to listen to part or simple background.

To Benefit the Nearby Needy

Daniel McVicar e Luca Fortunato

Daniel McVicar with Luca Fortunato, direttore of Capanna di Betlemme

When Daniel McVicar and Virginia De Agostini created ThanksDinner, the idea was simple.  Share abundance by helping those nearby who are in need.  This is the spirit of Thanksgiving, a festival that brings families together and shares it.  The ThanksDinner brings this tradition to Turin with the sharing of abundance to a local group.

The proceeds from the evening will go to Capanna di Betlemme di Farigliano, in in the nearby province of Cuneo. The daily work of the community conducted by  Luca Fortunato hosts the needy and shelters families, offering up three meals a day.  The community is part of the Associazione Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII who hold close the less fortunate members of society and bring them into care and help them build a new life.
